Renault 5 Turbo 2 – 1983

French historic registration title

The Renault R5 Turbo was unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in 1980. The idea was to develop derivatives of production
cars, designed to compete in Group 3 and then Group B rallies and competitions. It was powered by the same engine as the
R5 Alpine, with a Garett T3 turbocharger giving it 160 hp while limiting the weight gain compared with the basic model.
In 1982, the Turbo 2 was presented at the Paris Motor Show, with mainly cosmetic changes to meet economic imperatives and to offer customers greater customisation. The car’s performance was as good as ever, and it proved its worth in both national and international competitions. But because of its high price and demanding behaviour, the car was only produced until 1985, making the R5 turbo 2, with less than 3,200 examples produced, a model that was not widely distributed and, above all, increasingly rare on our roads, given the small number of cars that survived the over-optimism of some.
Launched on 29 September 1983, our Turbo 2 spent most of its life in the south-east quarter of France. Its current owner took possession of it in 2016 while it was in the Hautes-Alpes.
White with black bumpers and decals, our R5 Turbo 2 comes in a livery that’s both chic and sporty. The body has been repainted in the past in its original Gardenia white colour, and is now presented in used condition. The interior features the legendary sand-coloured corduroy upholstery and matching carpets, all of which are original and well-preserved, including a period radio. Only the roof lining has been customised in the past.
With only 72,500 km on the odometer, our car has been regularly serviced in recent years. Its road test showed it to be a healthy, well-balanced car, and it should be noted that it was serviced before being sold. An icon of the 1980s, this sensational machine will provide you with a complete change of scenery and guaranteed pleasure on every outing.
