Autobianchi A112 Abarth – 1984

French registration title

One of the success stories of the second half of the 1950s in Italy was the Fiat 500, symbol of the Dolce Vita. The small city car craze was in full swing when, in 1969, Autobianchi presented its first mass-produced model, the A112, designed to compete with the Austin Mini in Italy. From the moment it took off, Carlo Abarth, head of Fiat’s racing division, looked for further improvements.
Eligible for the Tour Auto, Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique, Tour de Corse and Neige et Glace, this A112 Abarth was prepared
with the utmost care by a team that had already won the Tour Auto five times in regularity. Aesthetically, the result is perfect, without neglecting the mechanical aspects.
More than €33,900 was invested in its preparation, including an engine rebuilt by Garage des 3 Moulins in Antibes. Highperformance, reliable and hard-wearing, this A112 was prepared for the 2018 Tour Auto, a year in which Italian marques that have disappeared were given pride of place. It then competed in the Tour of Corsica the same year, finishing third in its average class!
Sold with its FIA passport for historic regularity vehicles issued on 22 March 2018, its engine has been completely rebuilt and optimised with a new Gr. 1 camshaft, connecting rods, pistons, valves and bearings to improve performance. The gearbox, wiring harness, running gear and brakes have also been overhauled, with optimised suspension.
Aesthetically, the bodywork has been completely redone and repainted in its original Rosso Corsa colour, and the body has
been reinforced with an OMP roll bar. Reconditioned after the Tour of Corsica by Eric Helary’s workshop not far from Toulouse, the whole thing exudes quality and is just waiting to take the start of another race on the historic calendar.
