Jaguar Type S 3,8 – 1965
French registration title
Introduced in 1963, the S-type was a more luxurious alternative to the MK 2. Available in 3.4 and 3.8 litre versions, it was slower but its handling was improved thanks to its new independent rear suspension. The 3.8-litre model fitted with the mechanical gearbox with overdrive could exceed 200km/h. Aesthetically, it was distinguished by a few details at the front, but at the rear by its more elongated stern, inspired by the Mk X.
Originally from Switzerland, our Type S had 2 owners before arriving in France in 1989. Kept by the same family since that
date, its extensive file testifies to rigorous maintenance.
Today, it is in very good condition, with well-preserved chrome and bodywork repainted in 2008 in a colour close to the original.
There are only slight traces of corrosion on the left-hand rocker panel.
Inside, the leather upholstery was re-dyed in 1991 to match the original, and now has a beautiful patina. The carpets and
headlining are well preserved, while the woodwork is in very satisfactory condition.
Under the bonnet is the legendary 6-cylinder 3.8-litre matching number engine with manual gearbox. It underwent a complete overhaul in 1991 and has covered some 16,000 km since then.
The clutch was replaced in 2018 but the car has not been driven much in recent years. A regular service will therefore be required, and it should be noted that our Type S passed a valid MOT test at the beginning of the year.
