ZULACA CHEST
in exotic wood marquetry with black paste
enhanced with black paste. Rectangular shape,
curved lid with three cut sides.
Richly decorated with inlays and sgraffito
in the zulaque technique, with wrought-iron
wrought-iron fittings. The main face is adorned
a crowned queen framed by two trumpeters
with two trumpeters in a richly decorated
framed by foliage scrolls with exotic
exotic birds and other flowers and ocelli.
Wrought-iron hasp lock.

The Alma Mater Museum in Saragossa is one of the few
one of the few institutions to preserve
similar pieces. Its collections include
two Mexican trunks decorated with "zulaque" marquetry
"marquetry, respectively listed in Inv. N°53
and 54 respectively. Of the utmost rarity, very few of these
