



CIRCULAR MEDAL
WITH SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST
in antique gilt bronze with the head
of Saint John the Baptist, placed on a plate,
from the front, leaning slightly to the right.
The inscription reads: "HIC MAGNVS
CORAM DOMINO" (translation: This one
is great before the Lord). Initials
on the back: IS (?), four original
original mounting holes.
Germany or Netherlands, 16th century.
Diameter: 7.5 cm
(Traces of gilding, slight distortion, wear)
An identical medal is listed in the inventory of the
of the Auxerre cathedral treasury, and another
museum Mayer van den Bergh in Antwerp (fig.
