The famous "Officier" model was created to commemorate Patek Philippe's 150th anniversary in April 1989. The design of reference 3960 was influenced by the first wristwatches of the early 20th century, with a rounded bezel and an "officer" style case which, when opened, reveals the 150th anniversary engraving and movement number. It was available at the time in a limited edition of 2000 pieces in yellow gold, 150 pieces in white gold and 50 pieces in platinum.
