Mercedes-Benz 300 (W186) – 1953 - Lot 18
Mercedes-Benz 300 (W186) – 1953 Luxembourg registration title Sold without contrôle technique In 1951, Mercedes-Benz presented its first new model since the end of the Second World War at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the luxurious and innovative 300: it immediately became the fastest German production car of its time (up against the Porsche 356!), and was successful enough to remain in the catalogue for 11 years. Our example was delivered in 1953 in Switzerland to an enthusiast who kept it until 1970, at which time it was bought by Erich Kaeppler, a Swiss amateur driver ; in 1997, the current owner added the car to his collection and restored it completely. Today, the car is in perfect condition: the work carried out in the early 2000s was of the highest quality, both as regards the paintwork and the upholstery! Immobilised for several years in the current owner’s personal museum, it will need a major overhaul to get it back on the road; a leak in the fuel inlet is also worth noting. Here is one of the flagships of the post-war Mercedes-Benz range, now presented at an unbeatable price for an example in this condition! “Exceptional complete restoration, very attractive estimate !”
