Austin MB Mini Cooper S Électrique – 1968 - Lot 11
Austin MB Mini Cooper S Électrique – 1968 Original French registration title Sold without contrôle technique Incredible and unique Mini transformed into an electric car and homologated by engineer Maurice Bonafous, the inventor of the Citroën 2 CV Sahara twin-engined 4x4; 4 Leroy-Sommer electric motors, chain drive! The car, modified from a genuine 1968 Austin Mini Cooper S, under the supervision of Varta (for the batteries) and with the agreement of British Leyland France, was duly approved by the French Mines Services in July 1981, and therefore benefits from an isolated homologation, and a French registration title in accordance with its new energy mode. Its performance is still as good as ever: 80 km/h top speed, 1h range, 10h charge! A car in daily use between 1980 and 1987! A car with a unique history, with a well-documented history: a large technical file from Maurice Bonafous’s archives, original registration title in Maurice Bonafous’s name, various plans, correspondence with the French Service des Mines, British Leyland France, Varta, and so on. A unique, functional car (video on request, to be serviced), with an astonishing history, and perfectly in tune with today’s fashions: an ideal car for the city, or for a museum... “Unique, modified inperiod into an electric version, by a French automotive engineer who was already the ‘father’ of the 2 CV Sahara!”
