[Otto was appointed to Vienna to negotiate the terms of Napoleon's marriage to Marie-Louise]. We can only give a brief outline of this interesting correspondence.
1810. - February 19 (to his wife). M. de Narbonne is to replace him in Munich. He speaks of the disposition of the Viennese: "Joy is universal here, people of all parties drink to Napoleon's health, [...] the Ambassador is considered an angel of peace"... - February 20. He hopes "that the peace will be very lasting", as his mother will have learned of the "great marriage that will unite the Empires of France and Austria for a long time". Snow prevented his family from joining him... - February 25 (to his wife). Description of MARIE-LOUISE: "Our future Empress is full of talent, a great musician and oil painter. She speaks 3 or 4 languages, has infinite gentleness and kindness, a beautiful stature and grace"... - April 3rd. Account of the brilliant party he gave: "all the archdukes and 400 people of the first rank attended"... - June 10. On his Sarcelles properties, his wife and daughter Sophie... - June 27, on their affairs and Sarcelles. - September 23.
