[Catherine de Clèves, daughter of François I de Clèves duc de Nevers, and Marguerite de Bourbon (elder sister of Antoine de Navarre), married Henri de Lorraine, duc de Guise, known as le Balafré (1549-1588), in 1570, who bore her 14 children and was assassinated at Blois| she was a firm supporter of the League].
She and her husband received the proceeds from the sale of their woods.
But, with regard to their forest, "we receive infinite complaints daily from the guards and sergeants of dicelle who plunder it and rob us in such a fasson that we are no longer authorized to lendurer begging you to hold out your hand that the delinquents be hunted and punished as they deserve"...
