September 25 [1827], after a serious illness: "My head is still very little capable of application, but I need only follow the natural movement of my heart to speak to you of the tender and respectful affection I shall preserve for you until the end of a life whose end I have seen very close at hand"... November 25 [1840?], on learning of the Marquis's illness: "As soon as the care of my trial leaves me two hours to spare, I will go and find out your news, if I am not in prison. There is such a great desire to put me there, and so many ways to get rid of this desire, that it seems rather difficult to me that they won't succeed"...
Two letters are written from Sainte-Pélagie prison to Comte de
Coriolis, son of the Marquis. January 19, after the death of the Marquis: "If I could have conceived a fear of this kind, I would certainly have tried, despite the embarrassments of my trial, to see once again the friend so constant and so good whom I shall never cease to regret"... April 8, about the visit the Count wants to make to him in prison.
To Baron de VITROLLES. September 10, 1836: returning from a short trip to Fontainebleau, he found his nephew and sister, whom he cannot leave until they leave. Sunday April 12 [1835?], about a purchase of good wine, and a bill from George Sand
