In-8 (20 x 13.5 cm.), [3] f., 225 p., [1] f., frontispiece portrait of the author based on a photograph by Sommariva in Milan, fold-out table hors-texte, bound in printed calf, red first cover crossed by a riveted strip of black calf polished and embossed in the manner of certain steel sheets, yellow second board, black "petit carreau" embossed calf spine, sewn onto two yellow and red "petit carreau" embossed calf straps, red or blue nubuck lining, cover and spine preserved, untrimmed, black box-backed slipcase [J. de Gonet 1989] (some foxing).
First edition of this avant-garde book. Composed by Marinetti between October 1912 and September 1913, it is a kind of manifesto for his theory of "words in freedom", and the first book of its kind to play so freely with typographic composition.
