Scheuring, 1869. 2 volumes in-8, red morocco, spines with 5 raised bands adorned with gilded stippling, author, title, tomaison, place and date gilded, caissons edged with a double fillet and adorned with small irons including one with a bird, all gilded, boards richly decorated with wide lace edged with two fillets, a roulette and a dotted line, all gilt, gilt fillet at the edges, guilloche headpieces, inner lace, marbled and gilt edge on witnesses, slipcases [Smeers].
Beautiful, highly polished edition by Lyon printer Louis Perrin. It is illustrated with a frontispiece portrait, and the titles are framed after 16th-century woodcuts.
One of 50 copies on Hollande paper (no. 27).
A very fine copy, elaborately bound by Smeers, with very wide margins.
