(title), 35 p., 48 plates, 19th c. red half-chagrin with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons, gilt author and title (rubbing to spines, headpieces and edges of boards, int. hinges split| sustained russeting to title and 1st f., more limited to plates| pale halo in head margins).
Unique early edition of this collection of lithographs illustrating selected places in and around Paris, accompanied by a text. It is the work of Baron and General Louis Albert Ghislain Bacler d'Albe (1761-1824), a painter and geographer who was attached to General Bonaparte as head of his topographical office. Bacler d'Albe also illustrated several scenes from Napoleonic campaigns and drew maps that contributed to the Emperor's strategic decisions.
