The long cylindrical handle ends in a stylized mushroom-shaped head overlooking a décor of eleven incised chevron friezes.
New Caledonia. Kanak people, 19th century.

- Collected between 1866 and 1876 by Gustave Napoléon Gouère (1847 - 1920), a naval infantry officer.
- Has remained in the family to this day.
