The long cylindrical handle ends in a stylized bird's head with an elongated beak, raised eyes and a crest falling to the back of the neck.
New Caledonia. Kanak people, 19th century.

- Collected between 1866 and 1876 by Gustave Napoléon Gouère (1847 - 1920), a naval infantry officer.
- It has remained in his family to this day.
