Charles Cachin (1907-2004) was a surgeon and son of communist activist Marcel Cachin (1869-1958). He married Ginette Signac (1913-1980), daughter of libertarian painter Paul Signac (1863-1935) and painter Jeanne Selmersheim-Desgrange (1877-1958), to give birth to Françoise Cachin (1936-2011).
