DEUX GRANDES DENTS DE NARVAL
~ mounted in small bronze barrels (fire pots) with the presumed pontifical coat of arms of Alexander VIII (pope from 1689 to 1691) and signed "ALIBERT F.".
For the frame: papal state of the comtat
Venaissin, late 17th or early 18th century.
Total heights: 225 cm and 231 cm
Base heights: 36 cm
Net weight without base: both 5.5 kg (Two very fine old examples with beautiful patina, knocks and cracks| the fire pots: knocks and wear).
The pontifical coat of arms and the signature of Alibert, a founder active in Avignon in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, suggest with some certainty that these mounts are of pontifical origin.
