1966 Morris Mini Cooper MK1
French historic registration title A true stroke of genius, the Austin Mini presented in 1959 immediately attracted the attention of sports enthusiasts and tuners for its road-holding qualities and agility; John Cooper, manufacturer of Formula 1 and rally cars, saw its potential and suggested to its creator Alec Issigonis that he produce a more developed version, the Cooper, marketed from 1961 According to the British Motor Industry Heritage certificate that accompanies the car’s extensive file, this Mini was built on 6 April 1966, bound for France, where it has never left; the engine is the original ‘matching numbers’ one, and the sunroof also dates from its arrival at the dealership. Purchased by the current owner in 2017, major work has been carried out to restore this Mini to its original splendour: complete engine rebuild, gearbox overhaul, revised and improved suspension, and a host of parts changes to make the car safer and more reliable Starting from an already sound base, the body was dismantled and repainted in its original shade of Old English White with a black roof, at a cost of over €6,000; the upholstery, in very good original condition, was preserved during the restoration The engine is lively and the car is dynamic! It’s definitely ready to make its next owners happy on the back roads
