A diamond and platinum pin, signed Cartier

This jabot pin, entirely set with diamonds, evokes the Oriental influences in Cartier’s stylistic repertoire. The symmetrically repeated motif is undoubtedly inspired by Persian carpet designs.
This piece offers an interpretation of the Persian theme, combining the stylised lotus flower of Isfahan with the geometry of a Karadja pattern.
Whilst geometric shapes are a characteristic feature of the 1930s, the certainty of this dating is confirmed by the master’s mark of Le Voyer, one of Cartier’s most important collaborators during this period.
