Carved ivory and lacquered wood figure of an old man surprised in his reading by a small oni emerging from a karabitsu chest. The old man, dressed in a costume embellished with gold sequined lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlays, is shown kneeling on a richly carved carpet, surrounded by elegant objects (fan, koro, inro...). The whole resting on a carved natural wood base. A "Yoshimitsu" signature in a red lacquer cartouche on the base.
