PARQUET REGULATOR with TIME EQUATION
Rectangular walnut cabinet with three glass doors, one on the front and two on the sides, providing access to the movement. Brass movement fixed to an oak board screwed to the back, visible skeleton-type mechanism.
Two large superimposed silvered ring dials, hour dial above perpetual calendar dial with equation. Engraving: "Tu autem Domine in aeternum permanens [PS.CI.XIII]" [But you, Lord, dwell forever]. A third small silvered annular dial inside the calendar specifies the year in the 4-year cycle, including leap year. Pin escapement beating the second. Grill-type compensating balance. Blued steel hands. One-month power reserve. Back plate engraved with signature and date: "F.Fornells S.J. Invenit. et fecit. Anno Domini. 1883 "
Unique masterpiece by Brother Christophe FORNELLS (1821 - 1902), a Jesuit watchmaker from Lyon.

This extremely rare regulator is a masterpiece of watchmaking by a Jesuit brother whose work testifies to his mastery of the art of watchmaking, which he surely practiced long before taking holy orders. Born in Peramea, Spain, in 1821, Jesuit Brother Christophe FORNELLS entered the novitiate in France in the province of Lyon at the age of 46, and died in Saint-Etienne in 1902 at the age of 81.
