This sideboard is exceptional in more ways than one. Firstly, its remarkable integrity: not only does it retain its original base, but also its backsplash, which is particularly rare. Secondly, the unity and quality of its decoration lend it a great deal of harmony and elegance. Typical Gothic motifs such as the napkin folds and the clerestory frieze from Gothic fenestration are used to highlight the sideboard. However, the sculptor has taken care not to be facile or monotonous by varying the napkin fold design.
