Guillelmus de Castronovo, also known as Guillaume de Castelnau or de Châteauneuf, is a poorly documented character, although he is regularly cited in archival documents. He held the rank of priest and chaplain to the Order of the Temple, and performed the more specific function of preceptor (commander) of the Temple house at Saint-Hyppolite in 1248, then preceptor (commander) of the Temple house at Pézenas from 1297 to 1307. He was one of the Templars imprisoned in Carcassonne in 1307, then interrogated in Paris in 1310. It is likely that he was sentenced to death and burned alongside Jacques de Molay on May 1310.
