A set of aquamarine, ruby, diamond, gold and platinum, by Trabert & Hoeffer MAUBOUSSIN
In the early 1920s, the United States was experiencing a period of great prosperity and economic dynamism, which opened up new opportunities for Georges Mauboussin. In 1924, at the French Exhibition in New York, Mauboussin won a major prize. Buoyed by this accolade, he decided to open his first American boutique on Park Avenue.
Building on his success across the Atlantic, Mauboussin merged with Trabert & Hoeffer, a highly renowned American jeweller and designer favoured by silver-screen stars, in 1936. This partnership quickly proved successful, capitalising on the jewellery trends of the time. The trend for convertible jewellery helped fuel the creative energy of Trabert & Hoeffer Mauboussin, which had a reputation for offering innovative designs. With a single piece of jewellery, customers had a myriad of choices for wearing their sets in different ways to suit their outfits.
