The letter accompanies a three-page memoir: "vous verrés s'il vous plaist par la 4e que j'ai ajoutée si j'ai bien eclairci ce que vous avés jugé qui meritoit de l'estre". He has enclosed a copy of his letter to Cardinal de FLEURY, and Chauvelin will judge "whether I have executed well what you have done me the grace of advising me [...] I am sending both to M. de MAUREPAS to return to M. le C[ardina]l a propos to have the time to have them read to him. I did not dare to tell him that I had spoken to you about it, but I would nevertheless like you to know when he will have seen Mr. Cl about it, so that you will be in a position to make sure that Mr. Cl will speak to you about it, and thus give you the opportunity to do what I will always wait for, in all confidence, for the honor of your friendship"...
