MONTESQUIOU Robert de (1855-1921).
26 L.A.S. "Robert de Montesquiou" or "Robert de M", 1892-1913 and s.d., to Adolphe ADERER| 84 pages in-8 or in-12.
Literary exchange evoking, among other things, respective shipments of books and Aderer's work as a critic for Le Temps. Montesquiou requests an article on his "second volume of essays, Les Autels privilégiés"... "... Your restrained and concentrated dramas, built on sentimental exceptions, are poignant and thrilling, full of delicate pathos, and decorative surprise"... He will come to see it "in travel costume, as befits those passing through, and moved by that higher form of Friendship which the gentle Latin calls fiducia"... He thanks for a "lovely review although your 'gens de lettres un peu crottés et très timides' earned me a few flecks and a few moues. But it's success, it seems"... He thanks with a note of friendship "in my deep mourning for friendship" (August 24, 1905).... He mentions the "fêtes de Douai", his relations with the director and editor of Le Temps, Hébrard and Deschamps, notes to be inserted in the journal... He regrets Aderer's absence from his conference on Gustave Moreau, etc.
