MALLARMÉ Stéphane (1842-1898)
L.A.S. "Stéphane Mallarmé", Tournon Saturday evening [autumn 1864, to Henri HERLUISON]| 3 pages in-8 in blue ink on paper with his engraved letterhead

Complaint to an indelicate bibliophile.
[Henri HERLUISON (1835-1905) was an Orléans bookseller-publisher, art historian and curator of the Orléans museums].
"My friend Albert GLATIGNY, who was in Orléans at the beginning of the year, told me he had lent you a copy of VACQUERIE's Tragaldabas, which is very rare and very dear to me. Since then, either because he neglected to ask you for it back, or because you forgot to send it back, Glatigny has invariably replied to each of my very pressing requests that you would not give it to him, and in the end has given me your address.
My friend is now in Germany, and it's because he's too far away for you to send him this brochure that I'm taking the liberty of addressing you directly.
I've needed this comedy for a long time, and I'd be very grateful if you could send it to me right away.
He gives his address as Tournon (Ardèche).
