The film by Julien DUVIVIER (1896-1967), shot in 1934 and released on April 10, 1935, retraces the last days and death of Christ, based on a screenplay by Canon Joseph Reymond. The prestigious cast includes the extraordinary Robert Le Vigan in the role of Jesus, Harry Baur (Herod), Charles Granval (Caiaphas), Jean Gabin (Pontius Pilate), Lucas Gridoux (Judas), Edwige Feuillère (Claudia Procula), Juliette Verneuil (Marie) and others. Jacques Ibert created a major score for the film, which was recorded by the Walther Staram Orchestra under Maurice Jaubert.
