This poem of 4 quatrains tells the story of a jealous sultan who kills his favorite, whom a cloud has been able to contemplate naked. It appeared in 1838 under the title Le Nuage in the collection La Comédie de la mort.
"In her garden the Sultana bathes
She has left her last garment
And freed from the bites of the comb
Her large hair kisses her charming back"...
On the verso of this album page, three other poems, autographed and signed.
