FLAUBERT Gustave (1821-1880).
L.A.S. "Gve", [Croisset] December 12, 1872, to Philippe LEPARFAIT| 1 page in-8 (mourning).
Concerning his quarrel with publisher Michel Lévy over the publication of Louis Bouilhet's posthumous works.
[Philippe Leparfait is the adopted son of Louis BOUILHET, whose Last Songs Flaubert had entrusted to Michel Lévy].
Flaubert knew that Leparfait had seen Lévy: "I'm curious to know the result of the visit. I'll tell you why I didn't go to Paris. My trip is postponed until the middle of January. But I can pay Jacob's child [Lévy] right now. Madame Sand wants him to apologize to me to reconcile us. - Go and see!"
He learned, at "Father Pouchet's funeral", that there was a vacant lot [to erect a monument to Bouilhet's memory]...
Correspondance (Pléiade), t. IV, p. 623.
