Complete working manuscript of this novel.
This highly successful novel was given a bonus issue in November 1867 by the newspaper La Liberté, then published in December by Michel Lévy frères. On December 13, Flaubert congratulated Feydeau: "I'm delighted. [] It's light and well done, amusing and true. Some exquisite words here and there. The Comtesse de Châlis excites me beyond measure, as she has 'the most inconceivable of depravities'. What I like about it is the feeling of Modernity". And on December 15, he wrote to his friend Duplan: "The artist Feydeau has had a real success with La Comtesse de Châlis.
