



CHINE DYNASTIE QING (1644 - 1911)
= Blue-white porcelain "Baoyueping" flask, the circular body surmounted by a tubular neck flanked by curved handles, in the center a medallion in relief surrounded by eight lotus petals painted with the Eight Buddhist Emblems ("Bajixiang").
("Bajixiang"). The foot, neck and sides are decorated with elegant floral scrolls. The base with a six-character Qianlong mark in zhuanshu in blue underglaze.

NOTE
The name "Baoyueping" (literally "bottle embracing the moon") refers to the shape of the body, reminiscent of the lunar star. This type of gourd imitates pieces from the early Ming dynasty, more precisely from the Yongle period (1403 - 1425), themselves inspired by Middle Eastern goldsmith's models.
