The artist selects a few key pieces representative of his work for reproduction purposes. He therefore asked Mr. and Mrs. X to get closer to Editions Braun for a wide distribution of smaller format prints, on silk as well as on paper. It’s a way of democratizing your art by making it accessible.

Mai Trung Thứ was always deeply committed to peace and the independence of Vietnam, and with this in view he collaborated with UNICEF, painting numerous scenes of children playing to raise awareness in Western audiences and raise funds until 1965. This brought him considerable fame and enabled him to put the spotlight on his political and social combats. This work by Mai Trung Thứ is a perfect illustration of this. It shows children at play in a colourful, joyous atmosphere.
The innocence and zest for life of these little figures are brilliantly depicted by this talented silk painter, through an assured line and the use of a lively, shimmering palette. Two of Mai Trung Thứ’s favourite subjects are present, children and music, giving vitality to the painting and linking it to his Vietnamese roots.
