IMPERIAL TRAIN MEDAL
Circular medal in yellow gold, translucent turquoise enamel on a guilloché background of rays, a Russian imperial eagle in gold centered with a diamond, bordered by an inscription: "Pour accompagner le train de la famille impériale" ("To accompany the imperial family train"). A Russian imperial crown surmounts the whole under a bezel. Fabergé, hallmark of master silversmith Henrik Wigström (1862-1923). Marked 56 zolotnik Saint-Petersburg 1908-1917.

These precious medals were offered as commemorative gifts to the staff and engineers who accompanied the imperial train on its travels. They were part of a larger series created in 1904 by Nicholas II and largely supplied by Fabergé. The reverse usually bears a dated inscription engraved with the recipient's name.
