SMALL MASTERPIECE in the form of a mechanical shaft made from a superposition of boxwood gears operated by a crank. At the bottom is a counting wheel indicating the number of revolutions made, and at the top an off-axis pivot on a wheel. Circular base and tripod stand (lead weighted on the underside). 19th century.
