COURT SWORD WITH BLADE FOR GENDARMES OF THE ROYAL GUARD, 18th CENTURY
Finely chased and openworked iron "à la mousquetaire" donkey-step frame of the court sword type. Olive pommel decorated with a flower, openwork and chased joint arch decorated with interlacing, drop-shaped quillon in the extension and body knot decorated with a floral semis. Wooden spindle covered with alternating triple filigree and bishop's caps. Openwork double pontat top decorated with a geometric pattern of flowers and roses in medallions. Blade from the Louis XIV period, probably reassembled by its owner or descendant. Straight shape with triangular cross-section, engraved "AU COQ COQ FOURNISS DE LA MAISON DDU ROY RUE DAUPHINE" on one side and "GENDARME DE LA GARDE DU ROY" on the other, chased to the quarter with alternating "L" and fleur-de-lis motifs, remains of recessed gilding. Louis XIV / Louis XV period.
