This hippopotamus bracelet in repoussé gold is enameled in black and set with a large sapphire. An ambivalent animal, symbol of fertility and life or, on the contrary, destruction and chaos, the hippopotamus is present in ancient Egypt. To create this bracelet, Webb used an ancestral method: repoussé goldwork. The hippopotamus is an animal rarely seen in fine jewelry, but David Webb has managed to bring out its superb beauty.

This hippopotamus cuff in repoussé gold has the particularity of being covered with black enamel and set with a large sapphire. Among his famous and loyal customers were the Duchess of Windsor, actress Elizabeth Taylor and the First Lady of the United States, Jacqueline Kennedy.
