Hexagonal lacquered wood covered hokkai-bako box decorated with an elegant network of foliage and peonies in gold on a black background, punctuated with the coat of arms of the Mizuno clan.
Mizuno clan, representing a trifoliate sagittarius shoot in bloom on a stream (Omodaka).
The box rests on a base made of black and gold lacquer. The interior is lined with paper.

NOTE
The Mizuno clan is descended from the famous Minamoto clan, one of the four clans which dominated Japan during the Heian era.
The Mizuno lords were lords of Minamoto castle during the 17th century.
