1985 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 « Evo 1 »
Competition car sold without no title Chassis number VF3741R76E5100148 Series 20 modified to Evo 1 specs by Bouhier Engineering at the request of Peugeot in 1985 European Rally Championship in 1985 and 1986 European Hillclimb Championship from 1987 to 1990 Fully restored vehicle ready to drive Rare opportunity to own an Evo 1... A true rally icon and emblematic car of the Group B, the 205 Turbo 16 won the world championship in 1985 and 1986 before shining in rally-raids, notably the Paris-Dakar. In 1985, the Bulgarian company Balkancar, which specialised in the manufacture of forklift trucks, wanted to acquire a 205 T16 for racing. At that time, the Evo 1s were no longer available and the Evo 2s were reserved for the Peugeot Talbot Sport factory team. The Sochaux-based manufacturer then offered to sell them a 200 series road car transformed into an Evo 1 by Bouhier Engineering, which was then in charge of building the Evo 2s. This car was entirely modified and received all the specificities of the 20 series: its body was reinforced and bent, it received new brakes, new suspensions, and an engine developing 360 hp. In the end, the cost of the transformation will be almost three times higher than the purchase price of the car. This unique Evo 1 "aftermarket" was entered in competition from 1985 and took part in six European Championship rallies with Bulgarian driver Ilia Tchoubrikov at the wheel. Following the banning of Gr. B cars from rallying at the end of the 1986 season, the car was entered in the European Hill Climb Championship (Gr. B category) from 1987. It finished 2nd in 1988 and 1989 and won the championship in 1990 In 1991, our 205 T16 was sold to a Swiss collector who sold it to the current owner in 2018. It has since benefited from a complete restoration and is now ready to be used again. It is accompanied by a file including copies of the original contracts attesting to the modification of the car, various invoices, its red bar and various other documents of the period.
