In 1986, after the banning of Gr. B cars,
Peugeot, always ready to pull out the claws, with Jean Todt, the strong man of marketing and competition, decided to offer a new life to the iconic and bestial 205 T16.
Thus, in 1987, the 205 T16 Grand Raid, adapted to the difficult conditions of the African tracks and deserts, won the Dakar “easily”, in the hands of Ari Vatanen... and a whole series of
Rally Raids. This was the beginning of a long adventure that continued with the 405 Turbo 16
Grand Raid, then with the Citroën ZX Rallye Raid. After the withdrawal of Peugeot, Guy Frequelin installed his two star drivers,
Ari Vatanen and Pierre Lartigue, at the controls of the victorious former Lionne, modified and transformed into a ZX. A test run, a master stroke: this brand new ZX Rally Raid from the defunct Gr. B was to win everything and install the Chevron brand at the head of the Rally Raid
World Cup from 1993. The ZX, first yellow (Camel), then red (due to the Evin law), was to remain on the podium until its forced retirement in 1997.
The ZX Rallye Raid we present was born #C26 in 1994. This Evo 2 will be entered in 2 races:
- Rally of Tunisia 1994, Hubert Auriol - Gilles Picard, 4th
- Atlas Rally 1994, Hubert Auriol - Gilles Picard, 3rd
The car was upgraded to Evo 3 during the season, becoming #C326, before being entered in two events the following year:
- 1995 Rally of Tunisia, Ari Vatanen - Fabrizia Pons, 3rd

Victory!
Owned by Citroën until 2014, and serviced just before its sale to the current owner, #C321 comes to us in incredible cosmetic and mechanical condition. The car starts right up and looks almost ready to take the start of the next Dakar Classic... Where no ZX Rally Raid has yet set its wheels! Not to mention the fact that it is certainly one of the ZX Rally Raids with the best track record, with two eminently charismatic drivers.
