Silvère Jarrosson
A genuine encounter between performative practice and painting on canvas, the work of Silvère Jarrosson (born in 1993), represents a search for movement through a lively and impassioned form of art. Close to nature, claiming a radical aesthetic, he was first inspired by Jackson Pollock's techniques to eventually detach himself from them, restricting his color ranges and redefining his creative gestures. It is finally his previous career as a dancer that we can rediscover through the ballet of pigments on the canvas, and the succession of colored areas, all in formats that are often monumental.
His paintings, with motifs similar to sedimentary strata, have something very earthy, almost animal. Like direct and raw impressions of the natural world that would have been fixed by the artist, one imagines in front of his canvases the representation of clay soils in the depths of the caves of America, of the sea withdrawing from the Catalan beaches, of the mold of a fruit at the end of the summer or even the inside of a gem that would have just been broken in two.
Exhibited in 2023 at the Colmar Museum, he is already making his way into the most important contemporary art collections in Europe and abroad.
“ The imaginary world, the unconscious escape that one can discover in my paintings, all these things come later. I am not an artist who starts from an inspiration. On the contrary, I start from an artisanal approach and thanks to the technical processes there is an opening towards the unconscious, towards the dream, towards the imaginary.”
