Vintage french registration title This car has been in the same family since the beginning, with one owner, a registration and a title of the period! Very touching barnfind, incredibly well preserved Transformable Belvalette patent mechanism with incredible kinetics 99% complete, must be preserved in its original condition, no MOT THE luxury car of the Roaring Twenties, noble chassis, 4-cylinder valveless engine, great French coachbuilder: a car to be presented in the greatest competitions! Gabriel Voisin and his constructions, aeronautical and automotive, synonymous with great luxury at the height of the Roaring Twenties, need no introduction. His unique style created a legend, and cars that remain to this day among the best of what was done between the end of the Great War and the mid-1930s. After the C1, which laid the foundations and already established the brand’s reputation on four wheels, the C3 was presented in 1921, more accomplished, but still equipped with the 4-litre, valve-less engine (Knight patent) which had proved its worth, followed in 1922 by the C3L for long chassis. It ensured the continuity of the luxurious bodywork that Voisin’s rich customers were so fond of. It was offered as a torpedo tourer, coupé, limousine and 6-seater saloon, but also as a bare chassis, to give free rein to the imagination of the great French coachbuilders, contributing to the spread of the made-to-measure know-how that we envy so much. Indeed, it was not until 1925 that Gabriel Voisin let his typically Art Deco art express itself with inimitable factory bodywork. The example that illustrates these pages, bought new in 1927 by the father of Mr Olivier Auboin-Vermorel, would therefore be among the last C3s to be marketed. It was probably ordered as a chassis and shipped to the Parisian coachbuilder Belvallette. This firm, well known in the days of horse-drawn carriages, distinguished itself in the early days of the automobile by its highly sophisticated bodywork, particularly for convertible torpedos. Our Voisin received an intriguing Coupé Chauffeur body with retractable front windows according to patent «G. Baehr No. 451.422». The surviving Belvallette bodywork are rare, and this retractable window process was unknown to us until now... These specificities, combined with the reputation of the Avions Voisin cars, and the incredible original condition and history of this C3L, make it a potential class winner in the world’s greatest concours d’élégance, as well as an outstanding road car after the mechanical care this beautiful sleeping car requires. Notice to the amateurs of the genre!
