The anthropomorphic Moai Papa statues (Papa designating their flat torso) are most often considered as the female counterparts of the Moai Kavakava (ribbed figures). They are rare works. Their ceremonial role, as well as their gestures and the surprising thinness of the torso, remain unexplained.

Presumed to have been acquired from the Lemaire Tribal Arts gallery in Amsterdam, Netherlands around 1999.
