ALMORRATXA in colorless blown glass. Rare aspersorium with five orifices, of pansu shape on high foot. Spain, Catalonia, 18th century.
Height : 25 cm (Small lack at the base)
Often mistaken for a bouquetière, this rare vase, emblematic of Catalan glassware, is in reality a small gourd for eau de senteur, the lid of which was tied with ribbons and pierced with three to five openings with very tapered necks. These vases were offered as a present by young men to the girls they invited to dance. The girl would hold the almorratxa in her hand during the dance and try to spray the other dancers with perfumed water.
