Red silk teenager's court dress (longpao), embroidered with polychrome and gold threads of eight five-clawed dragons chasing the pearl among clouds and precious objects above a band of lishui dotted with peonies and surmounted by tumultuous streams from which emerge sacred peaks and auspicious objects.
Lined with pale blue silk.

Bought by the grandmother of the present owner at an antiques sale at the Grand Hôtel des Wagons-Lits in Peking in 1912.
