Notes on women, in view of the work on women that Rousseau undertook between 1746 and 1750 for his patron Mme Louise DUPIN (1706 - 1799) and which never saw the light of day, according to volumes 3 and 5 of the Histoire générale de l'Allemagne by Joseph BARRE (1748). Rousseau notes the passages relating to the political power of the women: magic standard of the Normans woven by the sister of the king Héric| heroic defense of Vienna by Hermengarde, woman of the king of Provence Boson| solemn act of succession passed by Agnes, widow of the duke Ferri of Lorraine, in favour of her son| division by Tiberge, princess of Orange, of her principality between her sons and her daughter... "The treaty by which Hugh Capet established himself on the throne of France by accommodating himself with Emperor Otto 3 who supported Charles of France, the legitimate heir, this treaty so difficult to negotiate was the work of two princesses who concluded it together, namely the empress Theophanie, mother of the emperor, and Adélaïde, wife of Hugh Capet"...
