This manuscript remained unknown to Brecht's publishers. The poem was collected under the title Nordlandssage in the Complete Works from an incorrect typescript: Werke. Große kommentierte Berliner und Frankfurter
Ausgabe, Bd. XIII (Gedichte 3), p. 193 (commentary p. 469).
The poem has nine lines, the last separated from the other eight by a large blank.
"Sie zogen von den Bergen groß und fett mit roten Haaren
Eherne Waffen in den großen Händen die selbst wie ungeschlachte Tiere waren. [...]
Abends wenn der Wind im dunklen Wipfel der Pappeln sauste redeten sie allesamt vom blauen Meere.
Darin ersaufen sie bald bei Kupferneumond wie zu schwere Tiere".
