My dear Mr. Chlendowski, I have the most urgent need of the good sheets of A Passion in the Desert. I have finished your work earlier than you have had this little fragment composed and printed, so please send it to me by Sunday or Monday at the latest.
So you have not published the last two volumes of Modeste
Mignon, that I do not have my copy. On Wednesday Les petits manèges d'une femme vertueuse will be published in the Messager| you can come and get the whole copy next Thursday and I will soon be able to give you the 5 sheets 9 pages of Coméd[ie] hum[aine] which are missing so that you will have received the whole copy due under the terms of our treaty".
