POINCARÉ Henri (1854-1912)

12 L.A.S. "Poincaré", to a "dear Comrade"| 16 pages in-8 (5 on mourning paper).

Letters to a mathematician friend. The letters are related to Poincaré's activities within the French Mathematical Society, and to his collaboration with Charles-Ange LAISANT for L'Intermédiaire des mathématiciens and the Nouvelles Annales de Mathématiques. It is in particular a question of the counting of the collections, of the convocations of the commission of works, of the absences of Laisant, of the correction of proofs, of the publication of index cards, of a request for subsidy, of the classification proposed by the Royal Society... Poincaré tries to make his friend reconsider his resignation: "I still want to hope however that your resolution is not definitive and that you will not deprive us of the eminent services which you have rendered us for several years"...
